State Of The Miso – 61 Days After Launch

Just over two months ago, Scott and I took the plunge and launched TechMiso — putting us on the vast blogospheric map. As Scott put it in our first State Of The Miso,

this is our tribute to technology evangelism and miso soup.

It’s fun to say that we are running now for over 61 days with zero downtime on the TechMiso record. With no further ado, here’s our stats as we stand now:

  • Total authors: 3
  • Total articles written: 73
  • Total posted comments: 513
  • Total tags used: 283 (average of almost 4 per article)
  • Total articles by Jimmy: 6
  • Total articles by Rich: 32
  • Total articles by Scott: 36

Watching TechMiso grow is pure fascination. Without marketing, advertising or any other influence, TechMiso now develops completely off its organics.

Though, as we at TechMiso know, the truly important aspect for us, and the one I’m sure we both enjoy the most, is the TechMiso readership. Good, bad and indifferent — regardless — we internalize everything discussed here and respond with enthusiasm or [at the least] discuss the issues in-house with passion.

Our efforts here are fun, enjoyable and -in a healthy way- challenging to the bone. We’re always putting forward in-house ideas on how to better TechMiso and implement new bells and whistles as we vet them. We also bounce around the idea of monetizing — how it could apply to our model — and how it may help us offset some of the charges involved with maintaining TechMiso.

Overall, things seem to be on a good clip. A couple of our stats worthy of a quick look:

  • Total hits as of now: 21541
  • Total hits from our 31 day report: 9712
  • Total unique visitors as of now: 3395
  • Total unique visitors from our 31 day report: 1239

Even though all the stats are fun to look at, it’s a great deal more enjoyable to soak up our readers’ comments. Folks stopping by TechMiso seem to enjoy engaging with what we publish and we relish the opportunity to respond. We ask that you continue to visit and interact with us at any level that makes you comfortable. It’s ALL very much appreciated.

Best-

Rich

To be perfectly honest, I'm surprised you guys haven't implemented some form of ads or using Amazon Associates to earn enough to at least pay for maintenance the blog.

I think you guys should make something for the amount of time and effort you spend to write good content.

Since discovering TechMiso via Scott I have enjoyed reading and interacting here. I look forward to seeing the site grow and mature and intend to be here as a lurker and commenter as it does so. I think you're all doing a great job and long may it continue.

We've bounced the adsense idea around. But we're also thinking that it might
help if we wait a bit more, build up our content and then sell ad 'space' on
the site directly to advertisers — rather than pay Google as a middle-man
for advertising.

Hi Peter. Really glad you found TechMiso! If ever we get off track with the
content or you have suggestions or there's something you would like to see
covered, feel free to let us know.

Cheers!

Thanks Joshua – as Rich said, we continue to brainstorm the best methods for monetizing the site. We want a solution that both brings in revenue while being tasteful and relevant for our readers.

We're lucky to have supporters like you. Many thanks!

Appreciate the kind words Peter. We are definitely with you on watching the site grow and mature. It is a lot of fun – almost synonymous with watching your own child grow.

As Rich said, let us know if we go off track. Also, if you would like us to write something specific then let us know too. We are always open to suggestions!
