Blogs Worth Reading on a Daily Basis – Part 1
There are thousands of web sites available for your reading pleasure. Each one of those sites are competing for a slight chunk of your time each day, including our beloved TechMiso. Many of us simply do not have the time to thoroughly examine the countless blogs available for evaluation, so how do we determine which RSS feeds are worth reading on a daily basis? Simple – allow the TechMiso crew to point you towards a number of high quality sites we consider extremely valuable and definitely worth your time each day.
Apple
The Unofficial Apple Weblog is one of the best sources of daily Apple news, has excellent writers even though the site is an AOL property and offers a fairly vibrant community of commenters. Though TUAW does not always break the news, the site definitely represents a fair and balanced point of view when reporting the news.
The Apple Blog serves up fresh, daily news and offers excellent analysis and insight in to the dark and mysterious Apple world. Similar to TUAW, The Apple Blog is generally seen more as a reporting blog than a news breaking blog. There are always nuggets of information on TAB not seen elsewhere on the web.
Smoking Apples Blog is one of my favorite Apple blogs because these folks truly present new and unique articles and points of view not generally offered on the other Apple blogs. These guys tend to speak a lot more freely than the others, probably due to their lack of network based affiliation (ie. no association with AOL, gigaOM, etc.). Their Apple play-by-play is often snarky and to the point, while being educational and insightful. Definitely worth a read!
Design
Six Revisions offers a plethora of useful information for web developers and designers, often times publishing highly informative HOWTO articles and tutorials for WordPress, Photoshop, PHP and more. Six Revisions is definitely an excellent resource to tap, especially if you are in need of design assistance.
Smashing Magazine is one of the most popular design oriented sites out there. The guys that run this site have got to be tools, because the level of sophistication and quality of their articles are unmatched. Smashing Magazine posts a lot of HOWTO guides and tutorials in addition to showcasing excellent artistic endeavors.
Electronics
Boing Boing Gadgets is not your average, every day electronics blog. While BBG does report many of the same items the following two blogs write about, Boing Boing Gadgets offers much deeper and far more informative analysis of the space while publishing very unique articles every day. If you like Boing Boing, you will definitely enjoy Boing Boing Gadgets.
Engadget is the gadget and electronics blog. If you have never visited Engadget then the changes are you will never visit in the future because the content they provide does not match your interests. If you do like electronics, and have never heard of Engadget, you might want to hide your nerd card before it gets revoked! Need anything more be said?
Gizmodo is dedicated to gadgets, gizmos, and cutting-edge consumer electronics. If you do not know what Gizmodo is then you have been living under a rock for far too long. These guys are the snarkiest of the snarky and pull some of the craziest blogging pranks ever seen, all while reporting electronics and gadget news each and every single day of the year.
Entertainment
Cinematical is another AOL property, devoted entirely to all-things big screen. If you yearn for movie news and reviews then Cinematical is definitely the cup of team you need. Written by highly skilled writers, more than capable of quality analysis, Cinematical is great for both reporting and breaking entertainment news.
TV Squad is another AOL property, following in the same footsteps of Cinematical but entirely devoted to the little screen we all have in our living rooms. Want to talk over the latest episode of Lost with other Losties, TV Squad is where all the action resides.

This is just the tip of the iceberg. Tomorrow we will be back with another 10 blogs we consider more than worth our time, hopefully hitting on a number of sites which you may not already be familiar with. In the meantime, are there any Apple, Design, Electronics or Entertainment blogs which you find valuable enough to be added to our list?
You forgot my art blog :P
Nice article, though I'm not really fond of Apple blogs.
Hang in there because we might just have something you will like tomorrow methinks.
