Miso SoupOn January 1, 2009, Rich and I launched our tribute to technology evangelism and Miso Soup, hoping to one day be a valuable branch of the blogging tree as well as possibly build our very own Death Star. Imagine how cool a TechMiso Death Star would be, serving up fresh Miso Soup concoctions daily! Seriously though, TechMiso remains quite adolescent but is starting to show signs of growth, however small. So where does the little site that could sit today, day 95 of its illustrious little life?

In his 61-day report, Rich spoke about the pure fascination of being involved in TechMiso and watching our organic growth. That sentiment has not subsided – if anything, our curiosity continues to climb the charts. Watching TechMiso grow is definitely intriguing, especially when viewed through traffic analysis applications like Google Analytics and Mint, where we get to see the little stat peaks and valleys.

Now for the fun part of our monthly reports – stat updates! Here is where our TechMiso article stats stand as of this writing:

  • Total authors: 2
  • Total articles written: 104
  • Total posted comments: 655
  • Total tags used: 341 (average of 3 per article)
  • Total articles by Rich: 40
  • Total articles by Scott: 57

We had a fairly productive month overall, however March did take a small toll on the number of articles we were able to publish. A few issues popped up in both of our lives preventing healthy growth in the number of published articles during March. April has already seen us back on track, so expect to see increased growth on this front next month.

One thing many of our visitors may not know is that both Rich and I have full-time jobs, so our ability to write on TechMiso is severely handicapped – the only time we can devote strictly to TechMiso is after we get home from work, when we should be spending time with our wives and children. It is all about sacrifice for the greater good.

I am not intending to make excuses, but say this to merely demonstrate the somewhat unique position the TechMiso crew is in compared to many bloggers in the technology space.

For a site with a marketing budget of exactly $0, we are quite pleased with the direction our stats are moving. Rather than riding a steady wave or going south, our traffic stats for March increased when compared to our first two months of existence. Here are a few of the stats we have been sharing with our faithful visitors in our first and second monthly reports:

  • Total hits as of now: 36581
  • Total hits from our 61 day report: 21541
  • Total unique visitors as of now: 5553
  • Total unique visitors from our 61 day report: 3395
  • Total Jan visitors: 9712
  • Total Feb visitors: 10771
  • Total Mar visitors: 14658

Our traffic stats are definitely not revolutionary or anything to write home about. TechMiso probably has fewer hits in an entire month than TechCrunch has on a single article. You got to start somewhere though, right?

Rich and I continue to enjoy writing on TechMiso and providing interesting topics we feel are worthy of discussion. We have some exciting plans for TechMiso in the near future, and hope to be able to share those ideas with you once they are completely fleshed out. Until then, feel free to suggest anything you believe may be beneficial for the site and the community.

As Rich mentioned last month, while our stats are orgasmic we truly value the comments by our visitors. Please continue to engage in conversation on our articles and provide us with constructive criticism and feedback. Doing so will only help us so we can serve you better content in the longrun.

I would like to end by kindly thanking all of our visitors and supporters – you guys rock. Here’s to an exciting fourth month of life and fun for all.

Cheers!
