Actually, I don't mind apps like these. What does bother me is the unwritten set of rules governing the App Store. So Apple disapproves software like the Amber Alert app or the Tweetie update but then approves this? There is neither consistency nor competency and this is what my complain stems from.

As I mentioned in an earlier reply to Joshua, Apple really just needs to stop playing gatekeeper and allow people to install whatever the hell they want on their devices.

That would make things easier for the user. Apple's censors seem kinda retarded. The device is connected to the Internet, which violates pretty much all of Apple's censors.

I would much rather see them forego the entire approval process and open up the App Store entirely. Methinks that is better in the longrun.

You are definitely right about that. It's amazing how Apple always seems more than competent in turning their shit storms in to very watchable events. As they say, no press is bad press?

I think the term "micro-managing" applies here. Its clear Apple has problems with running the App Store, maybe they should pass it on to someone else.

The thing I love about Apple is that their shitstorms always seem to be so, so much more interesting than any other mainstream technology developer... ahhh, it's a beautiful world.
