Good point. I guess I don't feel like mucking with it right now, just like I don't feel like messing around with the Karmic release of Ubuntu right now (it's at Alpha 1).

Bugginess is not what I need when I have three browsers that are mega-stable (firefox, flock and opera) right now.

Amy

No nothing to do with security, just rendering bugs. For example the dropdown menu in MediaTemple's admin panel wouldn't be rendered, even though it was a regular dropdown menu (as far as I can remember). It also had a few issues with transparency.

If Chromium is as easy as most Linux software it should be as simple as:

# ./configure
# make
# make install

That's fairly easy, no? :-)

Although the downside is since there are only developmental releases available it may not be worth compiling just to play with a semi-functional, buggy browser.

Not sure what you mean because Chrome uses the identical rendering engine to Safari - webkit. What bugs are you referring to and are they security or presentation related?

I'm waiting for the Linux version. I will probably give it a try when it is announced for Ubuntu (it's available right now, but you have to compile it... I'm not that ambitious) and see what I think.

Very good review. Thanks!

Amy

Google Chrome for mac looks interesting, however I do hope it has a better rendering engine that Chrome for windows. The engine itself was fine (webkit), but it had a bunch of bugs that shouldn't be in it.
