Apple Is The Best And Microsoft Sucks

Apple Is The Best And Microsoft Sucks - TechMisoMacintosh is better than Windows, and Microsoft is run by idiots. Appleʼs software is open source whereas Microsoftʼs software is all closed source and therefore it sucks balls. You wonʼt get any friends when using Windows, whereas youʼll be the most popular person in the world when using Mac. Simply said, Mac is so much better than Windows.

Does this sound familiar? It probably does since most of us had to deal with Apple fanboys at least once. It gets even worse when you try to explain to them why they are wrong since they simply refuse to accept the fact that they donʼt know anything about Apple or Macintosh at all. What makes me even more angry is that whenever you finally manage to get the time to explain to them theyʼre wrong, all they say is “Youʼre just a Windows fanboy”. Excuse me? A Windows fanboy ? Werenʼt you the fanboy screaming about how great Apple is, while at the same time not being able to name a few Apple computers besides the iMac and Macbook?

But it doesnʼt stop there. Not only are the fanboys a problem, but Apple itself is a problem as well. Since the beginning they have fought for open platforms which would give the user freedom to use the technology in pretty much any possible way. In fact, this was one of the main things Apple advertised in the early days. Remember the 1984 Apple commercial in which a rebel throws a hammer through a screen thatʼs brainwashing people? It stands for the freedom of technology and how to use it. Exactly the opposite is happening now 25 years later.

Take a look at Macintosh and the iPhone OS. Both are closed source (with some open source parts). On top of that, all iPhone applications have to first be verified by Apple. Mac OS X [luckily] doesnʼt have those kind of restrictions, mainly because itʼs nearly impossible to restrict applications for a desktop operating system. Nevertheless, Apple is still doing the opposite of what they told people they would do.

Mix fanboys with a hypocrite company and you end up having a very, very bad day. Obviously Apple fanboys arenʼt the only fanboys, Windows and Linux fanboys are just as worse. I remember a person from a party who claimed that Ubuntu is the best operating system since it was so damn secure. I didnʼt even bother to reply since it was already hilarious enough. Another common mistake that people make is that they think Macintosh computers are for design related work only. Truth is, almost any Windows application has a little (or big) brother that runs on Macintosh. The only downside of a Macintosh is that there arenʼt that many games available for it.

Face it, Mac is better than Windows. My writing skills rock and yours suck. After not having written for more than a month I decided I had to make a comeback, and whatʼs better than writing an article about the best operating system in the world.

“The only downside of a Macintosh is that there arenʼt that many games available for it.”

I think this is not a downside. It means you can be more productive. Games are a complete waste of time.

Poor grammar Rich – “Windows and Linux fanboys are just as worse”. Sorry, Apple Rocks – not only did I notice that, my MacBook Pro told me, highlighted it, then automatically corrected it and Automator placed it into a PDF ready for print. Enjoy :-) Tim

I actually wrote the article :] And thanks for the comment, completely missed it.

4 YorickPeterse Sep 3rd, 2009, at 06:37

Hm….Can't edit it :|

Sorry – thought it was Rich. No problem, I was just giving him a hard time… But since it is you, and I don't think I know you – I will let the Apple-bashing slide :-)

Hey Tim, I'm always up for a hard time. Bring it on! =D

7 timtritt Sep 3rd, 2009, at 16:47

I guess we would have to disagree about Apple (or whatever topic du-jour we decide on) — Hope all is well for you my friend.

All's good here brother. Hope the same on your end. Don't tell anybody, but
I own an MBP and LOVE IT.

I won't – me too — There is a cool automator tool on Apple's download site – you copy text (I have not seen a limit yet) from your favorite news site, articles, whatever – paste it into the little free app – it takes it and makes it an AIFF file, which you can then put into iTunes and play back as audio on the iPod… pretty slick if you want to read an article, but no time… just copy it in PRINT view so you get all the text on one page….

1. You should stop writing, the only interesting thing in this article is : “Truth is, almost any Windows application has a little (or big) brother that runs on Macintosh.” But it's not developped so you can talk as much as you want but it's totally useless. Nobody has learn something from your article, since it's only your point of view.

2. Mac OS X implements DRM, so it's not really free of usage. http://www.defectivebydesign.org/
We can't say iTunes is an open platform since Apple has broken voluntarily the compatibility with non-Apple devices.
You can't say using Mac OS is ethically acceptable.

3. Did i missed some irony ?

I use linux because I don't have to register my product or sign any contracts. :D Not even when I bought my computer. Usually windows wins even more when you buy a pc and stick linux on it after remove windows. They got your money AND the don't even have to support it. I DON'T want a mac because it's wrong to install Mac OS on a PC (They will sue you.) and I can't have just linux on a mac because they try to stop me. Sounds bad on both sides to me. I will sit happy in the corner and watch them punch each other out. Thank you.

Yes, yes you did miss it, along with a chunk of the article itself:

“In fact, this was one of the main things Apple advertised in the early days. Remember the 1984 Apple commercial in which a rebel throws a hammer through a screen thatʼs brainwashing people? It stands for the freedom of technology and how to use it. Exactly the opposite is happening now 25 years later.”

Good job being a troll.

My dualbooting macbook disagrees, but to each their own.

Sorry, reading too fast + poor english.
I don't get the point though, it seems to be a sort of criticism of fanboyism. it's not very well build.

15 YorickPeterse Sep 8th, 2009, at 07:43

Apple won't sue you for running Mac on a windows based computer. They can, but they won't since it's not worth it.

I don't think either OS is better than the other. Apple Vs. Windows will continue to be a great rivalry which will continue long after I'm dead. Unless we all die on 21st December 2012 (Thanks Mayan civilisation and your stupid Calendar! :)

Mac's are a brilliant alternative to PC's. But picking a side isn't a crime. It's your right of passage to pick and choose. It's only that financially, a Mac isn't a reasonable option for me at this point in time that I chose a Windows Laptop.

Without the rivalry neither would ever strive to push eachother's boundaries and try to 'out-do' one another to bring out quality products.

But saying that – Where's YOUR 'iPhone' alternative Windows! eh? eh?…I didnt think so – Take that! Apple FTW!

Oops – did I let it slip? :s

I'm an Apple user from back in the pre-mac days, and I agree completely with your point about the company. I still like their products, but it's been a painful road (Think OS 9). OS X was their leap to the BSD kernel, and gave them what they needed to build the iPod and later the iPhones. Brilliant move. What was quite the opposite of brilliant was their continued insistence that you needed to buy their overpriced hardware to run what really is a nice OS. When Leopard came out I thought to myself: “This is it, they'll finally release OS X for the masses so it can gain the market share it deserves!” But, no, they would rather have control than market share… It is thus that I am slowly beginning to actually hate them and their stupid proprietary form factors that prevent me from making the simplest hardware repairs or upgrades.

The games I can run natively, I do. Anything else, I just boot into Windows and run them there.

Nope.. Microsoft AND Apple BOTH suck! :)

With Mircrosoft the OS is trash. With Mac the hardware is trash- plus all the software restrictions.

The computer is an appliance. It should do what I want it to do. If I buy software it's MY disk. I should be able to run it on any computer I desire. That's why I have a “pc” Intel i7 that boots Winblows, OSX, AND Linux. And I use Linux 90 percent of the time. I built the computer selecting each component. It all works perfectly. Apple's software is nice to use but you dont have to buy an Apple computer to run it. A “PC” doesn't ALWAYS run Windows. I beleive soon this argument will be obsolete.
